Bedroom Drawers for Clothes, Linen and Everyday Essentials
A chest of drawers holds the clothing that doesn't belong on a hanger: T-shirts, jumpers, socks, gym gear, and the spare bedding that otherwise ends up on a wardrobe shelf.
Most of our chests of drawers are wide, low designs, the shape often called a lowboy or a dresser. The long top gives you extra storage space for a jewellery tray or a stack of books, and some shoppers add a mirror and use it as a dressing table. If floor space is tight, a taller, narrower unit may suit the room better, and you'll find those under tallboys.
Choosing a Style and Finish
Flat, handle-free fronts look modern and sit well beside a simple bed. Fluted or panelled fronts add texture, which helps in a bedroom where most of the furniture is plain. Timber-look finishes add warmth, and painted finishes in lighter tones suit a smaller sleep space.
Many of our designs come in more than one finish, so you can match the chest to your bedside tables or choose a contrast on purpose. Selected designs have soft-close or metal drawer runners. Check the product page for the materials and hardware of the design you like.
How Many Drawers Do You Need?
Start with who will use the chest and what goes in it. A wider chest with more drawers suits a main bedroom, or a shared one where each person wants a few drawers of their own. In a guest room, a hallway or a home office, a compact chest with fewer drawers is usually enough. Before you order, check the dimensions on the product page against your wall, and leave room in front for the drawers to open fully.
Chest of Drawers FAQs
What is the difference between a chest of drawers, a dresser and a tallboy?
Chest of drawers is the general name for a freestanding set of drawers. A dresser or lowboy is wider and lower, often with room on top for a mirror. A tallboy is taller and narrower, so it takes up less floor space.
Do OMF chests of drawers come assembled?
Many of our chests of drawers arrive flat packed and need assembly at home, with instructions included. The product page for each design tells you what's involved.
Should a chest of drawers be anchored to the wall?
Yes. Tall or heavy storage furniture can tip if a child climbs on it, or if several loaded drawers are open at once. Follow the safety instructions supplied with your chest, use the anchoring hardware if it is included, and keep heavier items in the lower drawers.
How are OMF chests of drawers delivered?
Many of our chests of drawers are sold online and delivered to your home. Look for the Free Delivery badge on the product.
