Do I need a firm mattress?

This is a question we get a lot. There is a general rule of thumb that a sleeper’s body weight influences the mattress feel; the heavier the sleeper, the firmer the support required. Inversely, the lighter the sleeper, the softer the mattress can be. Why? Because that level of resistance prevents sinking into the bed. Believe it or not, our posture is important when we sleep as well as when we’re up and moving about. It makes sense when you think about it given the number of hours most of us spend in bed - that’s a long time to train the body to be in a good - or bad - position, right?
